Hunting for Sheila on 7 Concert Tickets: Too Short to FOMO

The story of ticket hunters for Sheila on 7 concerts in Samarinda, East Kalimantan, and Bandung, West Java.

Ardiana Kinan (25) has imagined that she will have a special moment on her birthday on July 27 2024. On that date, the music group from Yogyakarta Sheila on 7 is scheduled to hold a concert at Samarinda, East Kalimantan.

A close friend told Kinan that they will give her a concert ticket as a gift. Upon hearing this, Kinan imagined that her friends would surprise her when the song "Anugerah Terindah yang Pernah Kumiliki" is played.

Therefore, when online ticket hunting started, Kinan remained relaxed. Her friend was the one on the hunt for tickets. A few moments later, her friend informed her that they were in queue number 46,000.

The Instagram account of Antara Suara, a concert organizer, announced on April 27, 2024, that tickets for the Sheila on 7 concert in Samarinda have sold out.

"Until it was announced that tickets were sold out, we didn't get tickets," recalled the woman who lives in Balikpapan, Saturday (4/5/2024).

Kinan joked that the sale of concert tickets for his favorite music group was like the title of Sheila on 7's song, "Too Short": "Life is too short for you to pass it by without trying my love..."

Another story comes from Anita Veronica, a mother of two who lives in Balikpapan. Because she was busy taking care of her baby, she left the search for concert tickets Wait for Me in Samarinda to her husband and friends.

Sheila on 7 fan since junior high school received news that her husband was in line 11,000 for tickets. A few hours later, her friend reported that the tickets they ordered had successfully passed and they just had to wait for payment.

This is the second time he has been able to watch his favorite musician, Sheila on 7's vocalist, Duta. His first experience watching the band's concert was in 2006 or 18 years ago in Balikpapan.

She told her story, crying because she couldn't believe that she had won the online ticket hunt that was so competitive. For her, as a housewife, a concert moment like this could be entertainment in the midst of routines and the emptiness of concerts in Kaltim during the Covid-19 pandemic.

"The other thing I'm looking forward to the most is being able to take a photo with Mas Duta, he-he-he," said Veronica.

In Bandung, West Java, the ticket "war" is also fierce. Sheila On 7 will appear in Bandung on September 28 2024.

Rubby (24), for example, had already been preparing half an hour before the ticket sales website for Sheila On 7's concert titled "Tunggu Aku" opened, on Wednesday (1/5/2024) at 10.00. She used two devices to increase her chances of getting tickets.

This private employee from Bandung was not really familiar with the songs of Sheila On 7. He admitted that he just wanted to join the hustle and bustle of competing for tickets with tens of thousands of other accounts on the internet, which he considered as an adrenaline boost.

"It's just fun, fight over it. "The term is, FOMO (fear of missing out),," he said.

FOMO refers to a slang term that is often interpreted as a fear of missing out. Just like Rubby, who didn't want to miss the excitement of watching the concert of Sheila On 7, which has been making waves in the music industry of the homeland since 1996.

"Everyone knows Sheila On 7. However, I am not familiar with many of their songs. It's okay, I have five months to memorize the songs," he said with a laugh.

This desire made Rubby willing to wait and be patient for about an hour. When the website page finally opened, he quickly tapped on his phone screen to queue up.

In fact, I want to sing with my husband because this is the band that accompanies our dating until now.

In less than a minute, he had a line of 20,000. He even ignored the ticket option information which showed fully booked or had already been sold out.

Rubby always reloads (refresh) existing site pages. He didn't give up even though the order out of order information in red appeared on the screen.

Two failures did not make him give up. His persistence paid off when he finally managed to get one ticket for the festival section.

"Just don't give up. If it's still fully booked, just try again because there are no transactions yet and that's just an order. "But, if it's sold out, it means there was a transaction, so it's no longer available," said Rubby.

Despite her strong desire to enjoy the songs of her favorite band with her beloved husband, this private employee from Bandung is unable to do so.

"Too bad, I was only a few minutes late before tickets opened at 10.00 WIB. If I'm not mistaken, it was 10.10 WIB. It turns out it was fully booked. I thought it was over, so I didn't continue. "In fact, I want to sing with my husband because this is the band that accompanies our dating until now," she said laughing.

Perseverance and an unyielding spirit can indeed make one's desires met. Even to obtain tickets for Sheila On 7, thousands of people "fought" online to get the chance to watch their favorite band.
