Indonesia's winning goal was scored by Marselino Ferdinan via a penalty in the 23rd minute. Then, Witan Sulaeman confirmed Indonesia's superiority by scoring a goal with a curling left foot kick after 40 minutes of the match.

In the second half, Indonesia added to their lead through Marselino's shot in the 70th minute, followed by a header from substitute defender Komang Teguh in the 86th minute. Jordan scored a consolation goal through an own goal by Indonesia's defender Justin Hubner in the 79th minute.

Witan Sulaeman and his friends made history by reaching the knockout phase in their debut at the 2024 U-23 Asian Cup. Indonesia secured two victories in two matches, placing them second in Group A with six points. Qatar sealed the top spot in the group with seven points.

In the final match of the preliminary round, the host team Qatar drew 0-0 against Australia at Jassim bin Hamad Stadium, Al Rayyan. Qatar remained undefeated in the group stage, while Australia failed to score a single goal in the 2024 U-23 Asian Cup. As a result, Australia failed to meet their goal of qualifying for the Paris 2024 Olympics.

With that condition, Indonesia will face the champion team of Group B. The two most favored teams from Group B, namely Japan and South Korea, have secured tickets to the quarterfinals. They have both achieved two victories against China and the United Arab Emirates.

Nonetheless, the two East Asian rivals will undergo their final match of the preliminary round on Monday (22/4/2024) at 8:00 PM WIB, at Jassim bin Hamad Stadium, Al Rayyan. The match will determine the final position of both teams on the leaderboard.

Although facing tough matches in the knockout stage, Indonesia is only two wins away from qualifying for the Paris 2024 Olympics.

The winning team in the duel will ensure first place. If it ends in a draw, the determination of the position of the two teams is based on discipline which refers to the number of yellow cards received. The winners of Group B will face Indonesia, Thursday (25/4/2024), at the Abdullah bin Khalifa Stadium. Then, the runner-up Group B will play Qatar on the same day at the Jassim bin Hamad Stadium.
