Kompas.id Wins Gold, Bronze in Digital Media Awards

HONG KONG, KOMPAS -- Kompas.id, the subscription-based online news portal of Kompas daily, won two international awards at the 2018 Asian Digital Media Awards ceremony held by global media association WAN-IFRA at the Mira Hotel in Hong Kong on Thursday (8/11/2018).
Kompas.id won gold in the Reader Revenue Initiative category for paid online portal initiatives and clinched bronze as Best News Website or Mobile Service for its series Jelajah Terumbu Karang (Coral Reef Adventure).
The awards were handed over by WAN-IFRA chief operating officer Thomas Jacob and Google APAC head of news and publishing partnerships Kate Beddoe to Kompas deputy chief editor Ninuk Mardiana Pambudy and general manager of marketing Titus Kitot.
Kompas.com also won bronze in the Best Branded Content Project category. The award was received by kompas.com assistant editor Fatimah Kartini Bohang.
Singapore Press Holdings won most awards in the ceremony, including three golds.
Other gold winners include Singapore’s MediaCorp in Best News Website or Mobile Service and Hong Kong’s South China Morning Post in Best Data Visualization.
The award ceremony was part of the 2018 Asian Digital Media Conference attended by media representatives from 40 countries. The conference included discussions on the challenges and opportunities media face amid the disruption caused by digital technology.
Discussion topics ranged from digital media trends and product development to changes in the business models of digital media.
