Not residing in Jakarta, prospective students will definitely not be able to register for PPDB 2024

The practice of using a family card in PPDB 2024 is excluded if both parents have died.

The parents of prospective students accessed the registration page for the New Student Admission (PPDB) of DKI Jakarta Year 2024 with the guidance of teachers at the PPDB service post of Grogol Selatan 08 State Elementary School, Kebayoran Lama, South Jakarta, on Monday (20/5/2024). The submission of PPDB accounts began on May 20, 2024.

JAKARTA, KOMPAS — Residents who have not obtained a population identification number based on domicile in Jakarta cannot register prospective new students at New Student Admissions or PPDB 2024 in Jakarta. The DKI Jakarta Education Department has prepared 8,426 public and private junior high school and high school/vocational school seats.

Deputy Head of the DKI Jakarta Education Service, Purwosusilo, said that one of the requirements for PPDB 2024 registration is that prospective new students (CPDB) reside in Jakarta. Even though parents from CPDB have a Jakarta KTP, those who live outside Jakarta cannot register for PPDB 2024. All registration requirements must be in accordance with family card (KK), population identification number (NIK), and domicile.

"I'm sorry, it's not possible. Although your household registration card (KK) and Jakarta ID (KTP) are registered here, if your domicile is outside Jakarta, it cannot be accommodated in the system when registering. There will also be a verification process for validating your KK and other documents," said Purwosusilo on Friday (24/5/2024).

In the PPDB registration system, DKI Jakarta KTPs belonging to residents whose NIK has been deactivated will appear as a notification.

There are exceptions for CPBD to be accepted, even if they depend on the household head. CPDB who depend on another family member or grandparents may register and be allowed if their parents have passed away.

Previously, acting Governor of Jakarta Heru Budi Hartono in his written statement requested participants of the 2024 PPDB who moved addresses to immediately consult with the Jakarta Civil Registry and Population Agency (Disdukcapil). This is because many applicants are not selective in adhering to the admission quota regulations, including regarding population administration matters.

Heru gave an example of an administrative issue regarding a change of address from Tanah Abang to Petukangan, Central Jakarta. The participant who moved has not yet taken care of their residency administration, even though they have moved two years ago.

"Someone earlier traveled from Tanah Abang to Petukangan, but they haven't taken care of their relocation. It's been 2-3 years, but they haven't handled it. Even when they were processing it, they had already passed the deadline, but they can still attend school in the zoned neighborhood," said Heru on Wednesday (May 22, 2024).

Therefore, if there are difficulties during the registration for PPDB, according to Heru, residents can visit or inquire at the PPDB complaint center provided by the Jakarta Education Department.

In the 2024 student admission quota (PPDB), the achievement path accounts for 18 percent for academic path while non-academic path only accounts for 5 percent. Meanwhile, the affirmative action path accounts for 25 percent, including those for people with disabilities. The zoning path accounts for 50 percent and transfer path accounts for 2 percent.

Purwosusilo continued that in this enrollment period, PPDB registration is not only carried out by state schools, but also private junior and senior high schools. In the past, before the joint PPDB, only private senior high schools were involved. In total, there are 8,426 people or seats provided for the joint PPDB.

There are exceptions for CPBD to be accepted even if they are living with another family. CPBDs who live with other families or grandparents can register and be allowed if their parents have passed away.

As for high schools, there are 121 schools with a capacity of 2,671 seats, while vocational schools have 147 schools with a capacity of 4,024 seats. Meanwhile, there are 138 junior high schools involved with a capacity of 1,731 seats.

"For the less fortunate CPDB, they can register at a private school, free of charge," he said.
