Megawati Reveals the 2024 Election Fraud Anomaly

JAKARTA, KOMPAS — Chairperson of the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle or PDI-P Megawati Soekarnoputri considers the 2024 General Election to be the worst election in the history of national democracy. There is an anomaly in election fraud that perpetuates the practice of abuse of power.

"The election is often said to be the worst in the history of democracy. This statement is voiced by many academics, civil society figures, professors, and cultural artists. However, what is so sad for me is the occurrence of the denial of the people's sovereignty itself," said Megawati in her political speech at the National Working Meeting (Rakernas) V of PDI-P at the Beach City International Stadium, Ancol, Jakarta, on Friday (24/5/2024).

He expressed sadness seeing the election organizers who stay silent about misconduct. Meanwhile, the future of reform and democracy is being threatened. This is apparent from the practice of abusing power by using state resources for electoral interests. Power is used to intimidate the people.

Apart from that, said Megawati, the various damages to democracy were also highlighted by three Constitutional Court judges, namely Saldi Isra, Enny Nurbaningsih, and Arief Hidayat in their dissenting opinion in the 2024 Presidential Election dispute decision. there are those who dare to convey adissenting opinion. This (different opinions) is the first time, you know, this has happened in the history of presidential election disputes," he explained.

What is so sad for me is the denial of the people's own sovereign rights.

The fact that there has been structured, systematic, and massive (TSM) cheating is also claimed by Megawati to be true. However, these facts seem to be ignored due to power intervention. "Well, this struggle is not easy because what has happened is truly, in my opinion, a storm of anomalies. Anomalies that cannot be predicted, can happen just like that, explode suddenly. What are the consequences? It is structured, systematic, and massive cheating," she said.

More than that, he admitted that he was surprised that the Constitutional Court could be intervened by power. He also touched on Constitutional Court decision Number 90/2023 which caused controversy because it allowed someone under 40 years of age to nominate as a candidate for president and vice president as long as they had/are currently serving as regional heads. According to Megawati, every additional material content in a law should come about through the legislative process in the DPR, not through judicial review at the MK.

"The ambition for power successfully kills ethics, morals, and conscience to the point where its authority overlaps in a healthy democracy, especially in the political system of a unified republic," he said.

People should be allowed to make their choices based on conscience. All parties should be able to compete fairly and honestly, instead of using state resources to intimidate the people.
