Niki's Identity Crisis

Niki is preparing to release a new album on August 9 with the title Buzz. Not long after the album comes out, the Jakarta-born singer who now lives in the United States will go on tour to many countries. His homeland has a schedule for 14 and 15 February 2025.

Jakarta-born singer, Niki, immediately fulfilled her fans' hopes for new material. The new songs were included on his third studio album, which he titled Buzz. Immediately after the album came out, Niki held a big tour: visiting 41 countries in North America, Europe, Asia and Australia, including New Zealand.

The album Buzz is planned to be released on August 9, 2024 via the label 88rising. The featured song entitled "Too Much of a Good Thing" was broadcast in mid-May. The song contains Niki's heart, with a style that tends to be sassy.

According to Niki, her new songs have a calm folk-rock style but with a hint of restlessness. "I'm experiencing an identity crisis," said Niki in a press release received on Wednesday (15/5/2024). This crisis arose from many changes in her life path.

Indonesian-born singer Nicole Zefanya, or Niki, is part of the 88Rising management that supports musicians of Asian descent in the United States, along with Rich Brian.

This 25 year old woman whose birth name was Nicole Zefanya started writing love poetry since high school in Jakarta. He also started playing the guitar performing popular American songs. The cover version of the song was uploaded to YouTube, and led him to move to Los Angeles to become the stage star he is today. This drastic change in an instant made him experience an identity crisis.

He put the story into song. As a music reference, Niki dug up a catalog of songs written by female artists. One of them is Joni Mitchell, who is quite clear in writing lyrics. "Joni Mitchell is my inspirational songwriter," said Niki, adding a list of other names, such as Stevie Nicks, Carly Simon and Liz Phair.

This change and identity crisis is represented in the word buzz as the album title. ”I named it Buzz because it felt like I was on the verge of something that was going to happen,” he said.

This is the story and the music that he will bring along in his long tour starting in September in North America. The Asian region will be visited in February next year. Indonesia will have two shows, namely on February 14th and 15th, 2025.
