BANDUNG, KOMPAS — Three train trips were temporarily stopped when an earthquake hit Bandung Regency, West Java, Wednesday (1/5/2024). ), with a magnitude of 4.2. The affected trains consist of one commuter train and two long-distance trains.

Public Relations Manager of PT Kereta Api Indonesia Operational Area 2, Ayep Hanapi, explained that the series that was stopped was KA 363 (commuter line Bandung Raya) and two long-distance trains, namely KA Malabar (PLB 7014) and KA Pasundan ( KA 240). He said that the conditions for stopping were extraordinary when the earthquake occurred to ensure that the route to be passed was safe and there were no obstacles.

The train stopped at 10:06 when a magnitude 4.2 earthquake hit Bandung. According to records from the Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG), the epicenter of the earthquake was located approximately 20 kilometers southeast of the center of Bandung Regency, with a depth of 4 kilometers.

Based on the shaking level map and community reports, the earthquake was felt in the Majalaya, Cisewu, Banjaran, Cibereum, Pangalengan, and Garut areas with an intensity scale of III MMI.

The tremor was felt by several people, while lightweight objects hanging swayed. However, until now there have been no reports of building damage from the impact of this earthquake. Until 10.28 am, BMKG recorded two aftershocks.
