Anies-Muhaimin Respects Whatever MK Decision, Asks Supporters to Maintain Order

Anies-Muhaimin hopes that constitutional judges will show statesmanship in deciding disputes over the 2024 presidential election.

JAKARTA, KOMPAS – Presidential candidate pair Anies Rasyid Baswedan-Muhaimin Iskandar made it clear that they will accept any decision from the Constitutional Court regarding the dispute over the results of the 2024 Presidential Election. In addition to hoping that the constitutional judges show their sense of statehood, Anies and Muhaimin also ask the public, especially their supporters, to maintain order and comply with all regulations in responding to the decision of the Constitutional Court.

The Constitutional Court (MK) is scheduled to hold a hearing for reading the verdict on the case of the presidential and vice presidential election dispute on Monday (22/4/2024). According to plans, Anies and Muhaimin will attend the hearing held at the MK building in Jakarta.

When met after the Halalbihalal Idul Fitri activity of the National Legal Team Anies-Muhaimin in Jakarta, Sunday (21/4/2024), Anies admitted that he would respect whatever the Constitutional Court's decision was. Anies also did not want to speculate about the decision that would be taken and left it entirely up to the eight constitutional judges who heard the PHPU presidential election case.

"We are waiting, we will see the results later. Preparation, yes, listen just tomorrow. There's nothing special," he said.

The former Governor of DKI Jakarta simply requested that all parties, including his supporters, wait for the verdict of the Constitutional Court to be announced on Monday. Not only that, he also urged his supporters who will demonstrate to maintain orderliness and follow all applicable laws.

"So, whoever, wherever, engages in expressing opinions, thoughts, views, or gathering, must always comply with the rules of law and ethics," said Anies.

Previously, Anies expressed his conviction that the Constitutional Court's decision will have an impact on the journey of the state. "We know that the decision of the Constitutional Court will have a significant impact on the journey of the Indonesian state," he said.

In line with Anies, Muhaimin also emphasizes that he will respect whatever the decision of the constitutional judge is. The Chairman of the National Awakening Party (PKB) also hopes that the decision will be beneficial for Indonesia's future.

"We entrust it to the Constitutional Court. We have presented all the logic and certainly all the legal foundations of the realities that the facts have been outlined and also experts and friends of the Constitutional Court to be part of the consideration. Hopefully, the judges will decide with statehood and look towards Indonesia's future," said Muhaimin.

Anies-Muhaimin is one of the petitioners in the 2024 PHPU presidential election case. The presidential and vice presidential candidate pair supported by the Nasdem Party, PKB and the Prosperous Justice Party (PKS) believe that there was a lot of fraud that marked the stages of the presidential election, including during the voting on February 14. Apart from asking the Constitutional Court to cancel the General Election Commission (KPU) Decision Number 360 of 2024 concerning Determination of the Results of the 2024 Election, Anies-Muhaimin also asked the Constitutional Court to disqualify the participation of the Prabowo Subianto-Gibran Rakabuming Raka or only Gibran in the 2024 presidential election. KPU Decree No. 360/2024, one of which contains the vote results for the three presidential and vice presidential candidates, which shows that the Prabowo-Gibran pair won over the other two pairs with 92,214,691 valid national votes.

The Legal Team of Anies-Muhaimin revealed that fraud includes the involvement of the presidential institution, the suppression of the independence of the election organizers, manipulation of candidacy requirements, deployment of state apparatus, and abuse of state budget.

The Anies-Muhaimin team also questioned 11 actions categorized as betrayal against the constitution and violations of the principles of a free, fair, and honest election. One of which was the KPU intentionally accepting the candidacy of Prabowo-Gibran illegally and violating the law.

In addition, there are interventions of power against the election organizers, nepotism by utilizing the presidency, as well as the massive appointment of interim regional heads for the victory of Prabowo-Gibran. Furthermore, the involvement of state apparatus and village heads to win for Prabowo-Gibran, palace intervention, politicization of social assistance, as well as the increase in salary and allowances for the Elections Supervisory Agency in the critical period of the election.

The head of the Anies-Muhaimin National Legal Team, Ari Yusuf Amir, was met in the Jakarta area, South, Sunday (21/4/2024).

The Chairman of Anies-Muhaimin National Legal Team, Ari Yusuf Amir, is optimistic that their request will be granted by the constitutional judge. The constitutional judges are believed to be brave enough to voice justice after hearing testimony from witnesses and receiving evidence during the trial.

"We will still respect the decision of the Constitutional Court and whatever possible outcome that will be announced on Monday, we are ready to face," said Ari.
