Kominfo Ensures Delivery of Reliable Telecommunication Services during G20 Summit
The Communications and Information Ministry has ensured reliable and smooth telecommunication connectivity services during the G20 Summit, with technology support from Indosat Ooredoo Hutchison and Huawei.

BADUNG, KOMPAS – Reliable telecommunication connectivity and secure telecommunication networks are integral to making the 2022 G20 Summit in Bali a success. The Communications and Information Technology Ministry has ensured reliable and secure telecommunication services during the event with the support from cellular providers and operators.
Wayan Toni Supriyanto, Secretary of the Directorate General of Post and Information Technology at the Communications and Information (Kominfo) Ministry, said they had prepared internet services with a special line at the media center to support news coverage during the summit. "This service has been tested and it has proven to work smoothly," Toni, who is also G20 Digital Support Infrastructure working group head, said in Kuta, Badung, Bali, on Friday (11/11/2022).
Based on the Communications and Informatics Ministry’s website, as many as 2,133 domestic and foreign journalists are registered to cover the culmination event in Indonesia’s G20 Presidency on November 15-16. Usman Kansong, the Director General of Information and Public Communication, said on Wednesday (9/11/2022) that the media workers were made up of 2,051 in-person journalists and 82 virtual journalists from 364 international and 71 national media outlets.
Toni further said that the government was also supported by telecommunications service providers and telecommunications networks to ensure smooth delivery of telecommunications services in order to make the G20 Summit a success. Cellular operators and providers have improved the quality and speed of 4G mobile internet, and even 5G network services have been in place.
Indosat Ooredoo Hutchison (IOH) – Huawei also provided telecommunication service support for the G20 Summit. During a media conference in Kuta, Badung, on Friday (11/11/2022), Indosat Ooredoo Hutchison President Director and CEO Vikram Sinha said they were committed to supporting the G20 Summit to make it a successful event in Indonesia. They have also provided 5G services and programs related to environmental protection.
Vikram said Indosat Ooredoo Hutchison (IOH) had launched 5G services in Bali since early August, and, together with Huawei, installed the latest 5G technology services at the G20 event location in the Nusa Dua area, Garuda Wisnu Kencana Cultural Park, as well as the surrounding area.
In addition, Indosat has also provided 5G travel pack packages for guests and delegates to the event. Vikram said the enhanced digital technology services was also a form of the company’s recognition of Bali as a world tourism destination.
Konesh Kochhal, Director of Industry Ecosystem Engagement for Huawei APAC said Huawei's new technology implemented to support the G20 Summit activities in Bali also helped carbon emission reduction programs and sustainable environmentally friendly development. Huawei implements a digital system with the concept of “more bits less watts”, which seeks efficient use of electrical energy in increasing the speed and reliability of telecommunications. Konesh said the efficiency of electricity consumption also had a positive impact on company spending.
Speaking about the environmental program, Muhammad Danny Buldansyah, Director and Chief Regulatory of Indosat Ooredoo Hutchison, said the company collaborated with WWF, the Maritime Affairs and Fisheries Ministry, and green community to hold marine conservation programs through mangrove rehabilitation and community empowerment program for turtle conservationists grouped under Kurma Asih in Jembrana, as well as plastic waste management.
