Bali Implements Restrictions and Traffic Diversion during G20 Summit
In an effort to support the smooth organization of the G20 Summit, Bali is implementing restrictions on trucks and odd-even restrictions for vehicles on 10 main roads in the vicinity of Denpasar and Badung.

DENPASAR, KOMPAS - Starting from Friday (11/11/2022), limiting the mobility of vehicles and application of odd-even system are being implemented in Denpasar City and Badung regency. These traffic restrictions are implemented to smoothen the holding of G20 Summit from Nov. 15-16.
On the several roads in South Denpasar, including Sesetan Main Road and Suwung Batan Kendal, notices of implementation of odd-even system and restricting the movement of trucks starting from 6 a.m. to 22.00 p.m.were put on the streets. These restrictions will be meant for vehicles towards Bypass Ngurah Rai Street and toward Bali Mandar Toll road. Besides putting notices, traffic cone was also put at the end of highway.
Restricting traffic will be done during the G20 Summit until one day after the Summit on Thursday (17/11/2022). It was according to Director-General of Transportation’s letter regarding managing traffic during the G20 Summit in Bali.
On ten highways in Denpasar and Badung will be implemented odd-even system and restrictions on trucks during the G20 Summit in Bali.
The highways are Simpang Pesanggaran-Simpang Sanur, Simpang Kuta-Simpang Pesanggaran, Simpang Kuta-Tugu Ngurah Rai, Tugu Ngurah Rai-Nusa Dua, and Simpang Pesanggaran-Gerbang Benoa, Simpang Lapangan Terbang-Tugu Ngurah Rai, Jimbaran-Uluwatu, Uluwatu II Street, Kampus Udayana Mainroad, and Bali Mandara Toll road.
Traffic restrictions, including odd-even system will not be applicable to the vehicles of heads of state, ministers and heads of agencies of non-ministries as well as senior officials from foreign countries. Likewise, the restrictions will not be applicable to official vehicles with red plate numbers or vehicles from Police/Military, fire engines, ambulances, electric vehicles and vehicle for important purposes.
Meanwhile, restrictions on trucks are being exempted in case of oil tankers, logistical vehicle for G20 Summit, food trucks and trucks that carry goods meant for export and import from and to at the ports.
Goods carrying trucks will be subject to traffic restrictions, for example, vehicles that can carry the weight of JBI over 8,000 kilograms, trucks that carry soil, sand, stones, minerals and construction materials.
In connection with traffic restrictions in the area of Denpasar city, Transportation Agency chief of Denpasar I Ketut Sriawan said that Denpasar’s transportation agency will deploy 150 officials to manage traffic during the odd-even system and traffic restrictions period.
When contacted on Friday (11/11/2022), Sriawan said that his office expect a traffic congestion or traffic jam on the streets leading to main road, where traffic restrictions are in force.
Management of traffic on the main roads also be supported by Police because make sure that there will be a smooth flow of vehicles of G20 Summit delegates.
On Friday (11/11/2022), a drill of operation of special forces for the security of VVIPs at all locations of G20 Summit was held. The drill began at Hotel Apurva Kempinski Bali in Nusa Dua, Tahura Ngurah Rai in South Denpasar and Garuda Wisnu Kencana Central Park in Ungasan, Badung.
Deputy Chief of Bali Police Brig. Gen. I Ketut Suardana also joined to supervise and observe the traffic situation at crossroads of Udayana University Bypass in Jimbaran, Badung.
