If the Polri works professionally, it is certain that there will be no manipulation of facts. As in the case of Ferdy, the crime scene was engineered in such a way as to obscure the chronology of the incident.

The statement made by the National Police Chief (Polri) Gen. Listyo Sigit Prabowo, regarding Polri ready to clean up in order to restore public trust, is worth waiting for.
During a hearing with Commission III of the House of Representatives (DPR) at the Senayan Complex, Jakarta on Wednesday, the Polri general was bombarded with questions regarding the death of Brig. J or Nofriansyah Yosua Hutabarat.
Some of the questions included the motive for the murder, information about the alleged gambling network with the former head of the profession and security division of the Polri Insp. Gen. Ferdy Sambo, as well as pressure to evaluate the internal conditions of the Polri (Kompas, Aug. 25).
According to Listyo, the first oddity was regarding the reports of witness examinations because they were asked to conform to the BAP (investigation report) format compiled by the Internal Security Bureau (Paminal).
On that occasion, a number of irregularities in the investigation of Brig. J's case were also explained. According to Listyo, the first oddity was regarding the reports of witness examinations because they were asked to conform to the BAP (investigation report) format compiled by the Internal Security Bureau (Paminal).
Other indications of irregularities came after investigators from the South Jakarta Police station conducted a crime scene investigation and examined witnesses. “They were intervened by Ferdy. The explanation from the South Jakarta Police chief during a press conference on Jul. 12 was also too quick to make conclusions as Ferdy had arrived late at the scene," Listyo said (Kompas, Aug. 24).
Prior to Listyo's relatively general statement regarding a number of problems in handling the case of Brig. J, the public was busy questioning the actual chronology and the motives behind the incident.
Undoubtedly, the public hopes for the transparency of Polri in handling this case. The information, which had been presented bit by bit from the start and was initially a cover up, has resulted in public pressure for this case to be fully disclosed and whoever is guilty must be punished according to their actions.
In line with President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo's demand that this case be disclosed, as well as the close supervision of Coordinating Political, Legal and Security Affairs Minister Mahfud MD, who is also the Chairman of the National Police Commission, the Polri special team then worked to collect facts and dig up the truth. As a result, five people were named as suspects, one of whom was Ferdy.
The status of Ferdy as a suspect is appreciated by the public because the Polri at least realizes the principle of equality before the law. Ferdy, a high-ranking officer, was removed from his position.
It is time for the three reforms of the Polri, namely structural, instrumental, and cultural reforms to be realized in real terms.
However, it is not enough to stop there. The clean-up of the Polri should be systemic so that it is comprehensive. It is time for the three reforms of the Polri, namely structural, instrumental, and cultural reforms to be realized in real terms.
If the Polri works professionally, it is certain that there will be no manipulation of facts. As in the case of Ferdy, the crime scene was engineered in such a way as to obscure the chronology of the incident. The professionalism of the Polri must be realized not only for the sake of raising the image of the Polri in the community, but also for the fulfillment and the quality of the work itself.
