"I have said it: Investigate it thoroughly. [Explain the case] just the way it is. Don't hide anything. Be transparent, that’s it. It is important so that the community does not have any doubts about what has occurred. This must be guarded. Public trust in the National Police must be maintained," said the President.

The shooting that killed Nofriansyah took place on Friday (8/7), but the National Police only revealed it on Monday (11/7), three days later. Nofriansyah is said to have been involved in a shootout with Second Patrolman E at the official residence of the head of the profession and security division of the National Police, Insp. Gen. Ferdy Sambo. The incident was allegedly triggered by the actions of Nofriansyah, who the police say had abused Ferdy's wife, Putri Ferdy Sambo, in Ferdy's private room.
As for the surveillance camera footage found by the special police team, as of Thursday, the forensic laboratory had examined it. The head of the public relations division of the National Police, Insp. Gen. Dedi Prasetyo, said the footage had come from a monitoring camera in the neighborhood around Ferdy's official residence at the Duren Tiga Police Complex in South Jakarta.
While being handled by a special police team, this case is also being investigated by the National Police’s Criminal Investigation Department (Bareskrim). Previously, the investigation of the case had been tough. The explanation from the South Jakarta Police regarding the results of the investigation into the cause of Nofriansyah's death was considered odd by a number of parties, including the President. From the results of the investigation, it was said that the monitoring camera at Ferdy's official residence had been damaged and that the footage could not be used as evidence.
Site of the incident
Kompas obtained a number of photos of the inside of Ferdy's official residence after the shooting. As a crime scene, the condition of the house has never been made public.
The South Jakarta Police have said that Nofriansyah fired seven shots from Fredy's private room, while Second Patrolman E fired five shots. Nofriansyah was killed by five shots from Bharada E. Meanwhile, Bharada E was not shot because he was protected behind a staircase.
As for the distance between the door of the room and the stairs with the black iron fence, it is not more than 2 meters.
From the photo, it can be seen that several parts of Ferdy's house were damaged in what appears to be the result of gunfire. There were three holes in the wall along the staircase leading to the second floor. The wallpaper lining the walls was torn. The stairs are on one side of the living room, opposite the door of Ferdy's private room where the police say Putri was abused by Nofriansyah. As for the distance between the door of the room and the stairs with the black iron fence, it is not more than 2 meters.
Another hole is visible at the edge of the ceiling of the living room. Right above it there is a large cupboard where the television and displays are placed. On the other hand, the damage to the building does not appear in front of the room door. Right now, there is only a male mannequin holding a gun placed there.
In addition to the hole, there are remnants of bullet fragments marked on the bottom few steps. The shrapnel is also on the front floor of a warehouse room that is right next to the stairs. There are no traces of blood, either on the floor, which is entirely made of light brown wood, or on the walls of the house.
Kompas has contacted a number of members of the National Police's special team to confirm the damage to several parts of Ferdy's official residence. The general supervision inspector of the National Police, Comr. Gen. Agung Budi Maryoto, Bareskrim head Comr. Gen. Agus Andrianto and the director of general crimes for the National Police, Brig. Gen. (Pol) Andi Rian all failed to respond to an inquiry via text message by the time of publication.
Previously, for the purposes of investigating the death of Brigadier J, Comr. Budhi Herdi Susianto was decommissioned from his position as South Jakarta Police Chief.
Meanwhile, the head of the Jakarta Police, Insp. Gen. Fadil Imran, appointed Comr. Yandri Irsan, who serves as the director of security for vital objects at the Jakarta Police, as the acting chief of the South Jakarta Police. Previously, for the purposes of investigating the death of Brigadier J, Comr. Budhi Herdi Susianto was decommissioned from his position as South Jakarta Police Chief.
The National Police have also decommissioned Ferdy from his position as the head of the Propam Police Division. There is also Brig. Gen. Hendra Kurniawan who was also decommissioned from his position as head of the internal bureau of the National Police's propaganda division. Hendra is said to have visited Nofriansyah's family in Jambi.
The Witness and Victim Protection Agency (LPSK) is still reviewing and investigating Putri Ferdy Sambo and Brigadier E regarding their request for protection as witnesses. Deputy chair of LPSK, Edwin Partogi Pasaribu, said the two had not disclosed their reasons for applying for protection as witnesses.
Guarding the tomb
In Jambi, Nofriansyah's family stood guard around Nofriansyah's grave. The body is being guarded until the request for a repeat autopsy submitted by the family is fulfilled by Bareskrim. Samuel Hutabarat, Nofriansyah's father, said family members were taking turns guarding the tomb so that no one would disturb the body until the autopsy was carried out.
"This is to prevent things that are not desirable from happening," he said. (NIA/ITA/ERK/MDN)
