PRAYA, KOMPAS — Cargo for the logistics of the MotoGP racing event at the International Circuit Highway Pertamina Mandalika, Kuta, Pujut, Central Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara (NTB), began to arrive in Lombok on Wednesday (9/3/2022). The cargo arrived on Wednesday and Friday (11/3/2022) in five flights from Doha, Qatar.
Stakeholder relation manager of Lombok Airport Arif Haryanto said on Wednesday (9/3) the logistics cargo for MotoGP races and other races at the Mandalika Circuit arrived three times. All came with Qatar Airways cargo planes.
According to Arif, the first arrival brought 72,220 kilograms of logistics cargo and the second 89,910 kilograms of cargo. As for the next arrival it is waiting for the data manifest after the planes have landed.
Based on Kompas monitoring, a few moments after the cargo plane landed, all cargo was transferred to 14 trucks that had been prepared. Then, the logistics was taken directly to the Mandalika Circuit, about 18 kilometers to the south. The process received a strict escort from the police.
"The procedure is the same as the World Superbike event in November 2021 and a preseason test in February 2022, both escort and inspection that will be carried out on the circuit," Arif said.
On Wednesday at around 10:00 a.m. Central Indonesia Standard Time there was a ceremony for opening the boxes of the KTM team. The ceremony took place in the customs area behind the paddock. The ceremony was attended by representatives of the Finance Ministry, the Secretariat of the National Council of the Special Economic Zone, KTM, Circuit Manager and the goods delivery company.
PT Bakhtera Freight Worldwide CEO Deddy Syah as the forwarder said the containers were opened using region customs facilities. The containers entered through a suspension of the Finance Ministry and Customs and Excise Directorate General.
Asphalt resurfacing completed
Meanwhile, the work on the asphalt resurfacing of a portion of the Mandalika circuit trajectory between the 16.5 bend and the 5.5 bend was completed on Wednesday afternoon. The new asphalt has connected with the edge of the old asphalt that is not dredged.
Mandalika Grand Prix Association director Priandhi Satria said there were no obstacles in the asphalt resurfacing process. Except when the new asphalt end met the old asphalt tip.
After being completed, said Priandhi, the newly paved track would go through a cooling process for one day. It was expected that the weather at the Mandalika Circuit was cloudy so it was not too hot.
"That way, there would be enough time to cool the rocks and asphalt layers so that it could be continued with cleaning the layers of oil on the surface," Priandhi said.
