Public satisfaction with the government’s performance has increased. This appreciation is a great asset for overcoming the challenges ahead. Do not be complacent, let alone stumble.
The level of public satisfaction with Joko “Jokowi” Widodo and Ma\'ruf Amin\'s government was recorded in a Kompas Research and Development survey in April. The public satisfaction rate with the performance of the Jokowi-Amin administration was 69 percent, an increase from January, when it was 66.3 percent, and from 65.9 percent in August 2020.
The hard work at all government levels certainly deserves appreciation. Many heads of government in the world have experienced decreases in confidence ratings in the face of the tough and uncertain challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The COVID-19 tsunami in India in recent weeks, for example, immediately hit the popularity of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi. A survey by the Center for Voting Opinion in Election Research showed that respondents who were "very satisfied" with Modi\'s performance fell sharply from 64 percent last year to 40 percent. On the other hand, those who were “totally dissatisfied” increased from 15 percent last year to 32 percent this year.
The German government is also facing a massive drop in confidence because of failures to mitigate the COVID-19 pandemic, which has surged across the country.
An April survey by Deutschlandtrend found that only 35 percent of Germans were satisfied with the federal government, while 64 percent expressed disapproval of Berlin. In November 2020, around 70 percent agreed.
While COVID-19 cases were previously trending upward in Indonesia, in February and March they declined.
However, in April, that downward trend turned around. This phenomenon needs to be anticipated precisely and quickly so that a new wave of COVID-19 does not occur in the country. Moreover, data from the Health Ministry found that three new variants of SARS-CoV-2, originating from England, South Africa and India, were believed to have been locally transmitted in Indonesia.
If a COVID-19 wave occurs again, Indonesia\'s economy in the next quarter will not jump and could fall into the abyss of a deep recession.
Based on a report by the Statistics Indonesia on Wednesday (5/5/2021), Indonesia\'s economic growth trend has also improved, even though in the first quarter of the year it still contracted by 0.74 percent from the same period the previous year. If a COVID-19 wave occurs again, Indonesia\'s economy in the next quarter will not jump and could fall into the abyss of a deep recession.
Reliable long jump athletes are good at adjusting the rhythm of their running on the track, starting from slow, getting faster and then jumping. However, in jumping, the accuracy of placing the foot on the jump line and placing the foot as the support is the determining factor. The right impetus will send the body high and cause it to land far. On the other hand, those who move slowly and take wrong step will stumble and even fall.
