JAKARTA, KOMPAS— Indonesia needs various innovations to be able to recover and rise back after the Covid-19 pandemic. Various opportunities will be available in 2021.
President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo said Indonesia could not escape the tough test caused by the pandemic. However, Indonesia is able to adapt. "We have to be grateful, Alhamdulillah [praise to be to God], we are able to face it with courage. We are able to run the wheel of life upright. We are also able to adapt to new ways so that we manage to cope with this outbreak and solve economic problems one by one,” he said in Jakarta (1/1/2021) on Friday.

Indonesia is believed to be able to rise up and innovate in 2021. Moreover, currently the economy has begun to recover gradually. The economic recovery can be seen with the increase in new investments in the third and fourth quarters of 2020.
One that is being pushed is the establishment of a food security command center under the Food and Animal Husbandry Security Service.
West Java Governor Ridwan Kamil is also optimistic about 2021. "The pandemic can be overcome and we become more creative in looking for new business opportunities in order to rise economically," he said. Kamil agreed with President Jokowi on innovation. In West Java, people have been encouraged to innovate, among others, in finding solutions to problems in the field. One that is being pushed is the establishment of a food security command center under the Food and Animal Husbandry Security Service. The main goal is to push digitalization in managing food availability and fulfilling community nutrition.
The command center, which will be equipped with technology, information and communication, will function as an alert system so that areas vulnerable to food insecurity and potential disasters can be identified quickly. In addition, it is also important to identify data on the food distribution and the community’s food access. Thus, it can be immediately known which areas are vulnerable to food insecurity. "This will also support the Millennial Farmers program, which will use the land recommended by the command center," said Kamil.
Budget management
East Java Governor Khofifah Indar Parawansa highlighted the importance of fiscal management in 2021. The budget expenditure is primarily intended to increase the people’s purchasing power.

Meanwhile, Bali Governor Wayan Koster said that balancing the province’s economy was one of his main programs. Like the tourism and creative industries, the agricultural and marine sectors in the province would also be further developed so that in the future, Bali would be able to obtain food sovereignty.
Separately, South Sulawesi Governor Nurdin Abdullah, said that various infrastructure projects would be continued in 2021 such as the construction of the second phase of Bonto Kunik Airport in Tana Toraja, access roads in areas that are still isolated, and the revitalization of the Mattoangin Stadium in Makassar. The development of tourist spots in Birra and Bulukumba would also be taken seriously, he said.

Like Koster, Nurdin also hoped that in the future Indonesia would be more independent, especially in the agricultural, marine and energy sectors. "Indonesia is rich in natural resources. There should be cooperation and mutual cooperation of all parties, both local government and private sector, as well as the general public in all regions, "said Nurdin.
West Papua Governor Dominggus Mandacan said the economy affected by the pandemic would be revived through the development of superior commodities from non-deforestation areas, micro, small and medium-scale enterprises (MSMEs), and food self-sufficiency.
"As a conservation province that applies the principles of sustainable development, we will continue to develop a green economy based on superior commodities in non-deforestation areas in accordance with the Manokwari Declaration. "We have selected leading and competitive commodities from non-deforestation areas, namely cocoa, coffee, nutmeg, coconut, seaweed, and export-oriented ecotourism," he said.
Apart from the strength and independence of Indonesia, Mandacan also emphasized the issue of equal distribution of welfare throughout Indonesia. "Our human resources are also improving and developing in all fields, including in the health sector so that we are better prepared and at the forefront in facing a similar outbreak in the future," he said (CHE/COK/DIT/FLO/MBA/NTA/REN)
