Political Parties Going Nowhere
If regeneration fails, political parties will be controlled by figures with the mentality of political workers who treat political parties as no more than a workplace to seek position.

More than eight years ago, Komaruddin Hidayat, then the rector of the State Islamic University Syarif Hidayatullah in Jakarta, highlighted the importance of regeneration in political parties through his article, "The Failure of the ‘Kaderisasi’ of Political Parties" in this daily (Kompas, 9/7/2012). The top party positions must be filled with politicians who possess the mentality of a statesman in developing the people and the nation through party instruments. Ahead of the general and regional elections, however, we feel that political parties lack cadres with integrity and those who are brilliant enough to govern this nation.
