JAKARTA, KOMPAS – State owned oil and gas company PT Pertamina has guaranteed a sufficient supply of Premium gasoline in Java and Bali. The guarantee was unveiled following the government’s instruction to ensure that cheap Premium gasoline is available in the regions.
Based on Presidential Regulation (Perpres) No. 191/2014 on provision, distribution and fuel retail prices, Pertamina is only obliged to provide Premium outside Java and Bali. Currently, as many as 1,926 public gasoline filling stations (SPBU) in Java and Bali no longer sell Premium.
Pertamina\'s logistics, supply chain and infrastructure director Gandhi Sriwidodo said the company was committed to implementing a government policy to provide Premium fuel in Java and Bali without exception.
"So, gasoline filling stations that previously only sold Pertalite and Pertamax gasolines will also provide Premium. We will provide a nozzle. However, it will not necessarily remove the Pertalite nozzle. Pertalite will remain available because it has its own customers," Gandhi said in Jakarta on Wednesday.
There have been shortages of Premium in some areas during the past several months. Due to the supply shortage, the government proposed a revision of Presidential Regulation No. 191/2014 to include Java and Bali as the regions that must be provided with Premium.
About the additional Premium quota, Gandhi said that so far, there had been no information if Java and Bali were included as areas that had to receive Premium. This year\'s quota for Premium supplies in areas outside Java and Bali totals 7.5 million kiloliters.
The head of the Downstream Oil and Gas Regulatory Agency (BPH Migas), Fanshurullah Asa, said there were 3,445 gasoline stations in Java and Bali. Of that number, only 1,519 stations still sell Premium, while the other 1,926 gas stations no longer sell the cheap fuel.
Consumption rises
Pertamina predicts that daily consumption of gasoline and liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) will increase by 15 percent during the Ramadhan fasting month and Idul Fitri holidays this year.
Pertamina has formed a task force to ensure the smooth supply and distribution of gasoline and LPG.
"Pertamina will increase its stockpiles and distribution of fuel, including Premium, Pertalite and Pertamax, during Ramadhan and Idul Fitri from 90,000 kiloliters to 104,000 kiloliters per day," said Pertamina’s corporate communication vice president Adiatma Sardjito.
Toll road tariffs
Meanwhile, Public Works and Housing Minister Basuki Hadimuljono said that the Toll Road Regulatory Agency (BUJT) would provide discounts for toll road payments during Idul Fitri this year.
Nevertheless, it has not been decided which toll road segments will provide discounts. The corporate secretary of PT Jasa Marga (Persero) Tbk, Agus Setiawan, said that currently, the discount plan was still being discussed with BUJT. Until now, there is no agreement related to the discount percentage.
"Last year, discounts were given to motorists who used non-cash transactions to increase the use of non-cash payments,” Agus said.
